Shimadzu IRSpirit IR spectrometer

Our lab is equipped with a Shimadzu IRSpiritX FTIR spectrometer, housed in a dinitrogen-filled glovebox. Pictured is the spectrometer with the ATR accessory installed; it is also capable of collecting IR spectra in a transmission geometry. The frequency range is from 400 – 4000 cm–1 A freezer is attached to the glovebox for storage of temperature sensitive samples.
You must receive three-part training from the Handford lab's equipment manager to use this equipment. This includes an initial training, monitored usage session, and final check-out. Users may only analyze rigorously deoxygenated and anhydrous samples; please consult with the Handford lab if you are unsure of whether your samples meet these standards.
When booking time to use the instrument, please ensure that you are reserving sufficient time to cycle your samples into the glovebox, and to remove waste from the glovebox after data collection.
